Other " Interesting " places.

Crovie

Crovie pronounced Creevie.  The south coast of the Moray Firth is dotted with these tiny fishing villages.  Pennan being the most famous one.

Brochs

The Glenelg Brochs, Dun Telve and Dun Troddan brochs, the best preserved in Scotland. There is a third further up the glen but it has not survived so well.

The people evicted from the glens built these steps and harbour so that they could fish and survive.  When the boats came in the women would carry the catch up the stairs and the men hoisted the boats up to a safe height to protect them from the storms.  The Whaligoe Haven is hard to find,  because Health and Safety inspectors will not allow it to be signposted,  but I can provide directions if required.

Lonely Farm

A lonely farm above Loch Ness that can only be approached from the north as the southern access is very very steep with numerous hairpin bends.
