Crovie pronounced Creevie. The south coast of the Moray Firth is dotted with
these tiny fishing villages. Pennan being the most famous one.

The Glenelg Brochs, Dun Telve and Dun Troddan brochs, the best preserved in
Scotland. There is a third further up the glen but it has not survived so well.

The people evicted from the glens built these steps and harbour so that they
could fish and survive. When the boats came in the women would carry the
catch up the stairs and the men hoisted the boats up to a safe height to protect
them from the storms. The Whaligoe Haven is hard to find, because
Health and Safety inspectors will not allow it to be signposted, but I can
provide directions if required.

A lonely farm above Loch Ness that can only be approached from the north as the
southern access is very very steep with numerous hairpin bends.
